As agile project management has become more widespread, the importance of hybrid project management, i.e. the combination of different project management process models, has gradually increased. In some cases, theoretical and conceptual work has resulted in decidedly hybrid models. In some cases, however, hybrid approaches in projects are also the result of balancing processes when introducing agile project management. To date, there is very little specialist literature on the classification of hybrid process models. This article proposes a typology of hybrid project management models. The models are categorized into various combinations of classic, lean and agile as well as parallel, sequential, integrated and emergent design forms.
