On Friday, October 11, 2024, the Faculty of Architecture celebrated its graduates from the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs for the second time this year. The focus of the event was on the graduates of the summer semester 2024.
Due to the large number of guests, the ceremony was held in the Kostbar lecture hall on the Emil-Figge-Straße campus. Chancellor Svenja Stepper, patron of the faculty, opened the ceremony. In her speech, she encouraged the graduates, inspired by her personal guiding principle of lifelong learning, to always remain curious and to continue to use the creativity developed during their studies.
Prof. Diana Reichle, Dean of the Faculty, warmly welcomed the graduates and their families. Together with Vice Dean Ralf Dietz, she congratulated the young architects on their successful graduation. Of the 46 Bachelor's and Master's graduates in total, 36 attended the graduation ceremony in person.
Students David Frankemölle, Dayna Hülsevoort and Yannick Packard received special recognition from the magazine "wettbewerbe aktuell" for their innovative and outstanding theses. In addition to a certificate, they each received a one-year subscription to the magazine.
Prof. Helmut Hachul congratulated the students Alexander Amann, Jan Stöcker, Marcella Ureta, Martin Vagedes and Lena Wahl from the Master's course "Metal Building Envelopes". They also received special recognition for their design of new interiors for the laboratories at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences (HRW) in Mülheim.
Exhibition
The official part of the event was followed by a champagne reception, during which the traditional exhibition of works was opened in the neighboring faculty building. A total of 17 graduation projects were exhibited on the galleries and in the main rooms. In addition to the graduates, their families and friends, external guests from surrounding architecture firms and cooperation partners also visited the exhibition. The recent graduates also had the opportunity to discuss specialist topics with former fellow students.
Prof. Christiane Fülscher held the farewell speech for the architecture graduates in the festively decorated foyer. Her words reflected both the pride in the students' achievements and the challenges they overcame during their studies. She concluded her speech with warm congratulations and the wish that the students would shape their professional future with the same dedication and curiosity that they had shown during their studies.
To capture this special evening, the photo box of Janine Bruder, Alumni Representative from the Department of University Communication, was once again on site. The graduates and visitors were able to take personal souvenir photos here. The event ended in a relaxed atmosphere.
