Graduation grant to support you with your thesis
International students who are dependent on financial support to complete their studies can apply for a graduation grant at the International Office throughout the year. These funds are provided to universities by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), financed by the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The graduation grant is intended to make it easier for international students to complete their studies. The thesis must be registered.
Scholarships for refugees - NRWege ins Studium -
As part of the program "NRWege ins Studium" - Unterstützung von Studierenden mit Fluchterfahrung an Hochschulen in Nordrhein-Westfallen" of the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the International Office of Fachhochschule Dortmund awards scholarships to students with a refugee background who can demonstrate good to very good academic performance.
The scholarship program is aimed at students with a refugee background who have started, continue or wish to complete their studies in Germany and is open to applicants from all disciplines who have obtained their university entrance qualification abroad.

(currently no application possible) Bridge scholarships for Palestinians in Germany
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers the scholarship program "Bridging Scholarships for Palestinians in Germany" with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA). As part of the program, qualified Palestinians who are in Germany and cannot return to their home country due to the current situation are offered the opportunity to build or expand their career.
The aim of the program
is to support students and researchers from the Palestinian territories - especially from the Gaza Strip - with bridging scholarships after completing their studies or research in Germany. These grants are intended to enable them to build up academic or professional prospects for the future in safety. In the long term, the aim is to integrate them into the education and employment market in Germany if it is not possible for them to return home.
Who can apply?
Graduates of all academic disciplines from the Palestinian Territories who have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or doctoral degree in Germany within the last six months or will complete their degree by the start of the scholarship (by October 1, 2024) and need transitional funding to find a job.

International students who are dependent on financial support for their studies and have to overcome particular social challenges during their studies can apply to the International Office for a scholarship for more equal opportunities. These funds are provided to universities by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), financed by the Federal Foreign Office (AA).
The scholarship for more equal opportunities is only awarded to international students with special social challenges during their studies and resulting financial difficulties. These include
- the special care situation of children
- caring for relatives in need of care
- a disability or chronic illness
- a refugee background
- being affected by a war situation (e.g. in the Middle East, Ukraine, other affected regions)
(currently no application possible) DAAD Prize for outstanding achievements and social commitment of international students
Award for international students with commitment and good academic performance
For several years now, one international student has been awarded an annual cash prize, the so-called DAAD Prize(Opens in a new tab) , at Fachhochschule Dortmund for outstanding academic achievements and remarkable social commitment. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides these funds to the universities, financed by the Federal Foreign Office (AA). Once you have enrolled, you will find the current call for applications on the Fachhochschule Dortmund intranet.
