Information
Since its emergence in Europe, the USA and Asia in the 1960s, performance art has become increasingly popular and today it is impossible to imagine the art world, museums and art galleries, as well as (art) mediation, without it. Its specific characteristics not only call into question institutional structures and the concept of the genre, but also make it necessary to rethink mediation. Mediation in the context of performance art should not be understood as a secondary process, but must itself be thought of as an aesthetic practice in order to correspond to the ephemeral and resistant potential of performance art.
