Information
"Our children would talk about it - we couldn't back then." - Intergenerational transformation in dealing with racism
The research project "Familial transmission of strategies for dealing with racism"(FaWeRa) presents the key results of the project at this symposium.
The project, led by Prof. Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu(Opens in a new tab) in collaboration with Nejra Dedić-Demirović(Opens in a new tab) , examines how families experience racism, how it is (not) talked about and how dealing with these experiences changes over generations. The focus is on communicative patterns, coping strategies, naming practices and transgenerational knowledge processes.
Symposium for professionals, people interested in science and families
The symposium is aimed at professionals from counseling, education, social work, anti-discrimination and migration work as well as those interested in science.
Families are also cordially invited to take part in the symposium and to think about the content from their perspective.
