What makes us special
A good connection between science and practice
The Faculty of Business Studies is very practice-oriented. Students acquire the necessary specialist knowledge through case studies, project seminars and business games that simulate complex tasks. The final theses are also very practice-oriented. The lecturers in our faculty are experienced and motivated. They take great pleasure in inspiring students for their subject.
The annual Business Event of the Faculty of Business Studies brings together speakers from academia and practice and offers you the opportunity to get in touch with companies.
City and region
We cooperate with companies
The Faculty of Business Studies works with companies from Dortmund and the region in many areas. Cooperation takes place in teaching and also outside the university walls, for example through excursions to industrial companies. Internships in companies often pave the way for practically relevant final theses and a smooth entry into a career.
Internationality
International cooperation is part of our everyday life
We are proud of our many visiting students from abroad and the international visiting professors who regularly teach at our faculty. The Faculty of Business Studies cooperates with a total of twenty partner universities in Europe and overseas. Our international contacts are an important foundation for many research collaborations.
Our study programs offer courses taught in English, so you will soon be able to speak the language with ease. The international nature of the subject areas strengthens your ability to think outside the box and recognize complex interrelationships.
As the UAS provides for practical semesters and stays abroad for its students, we will support and advise you in all matters relating to this. This gives you the opportunity to gain initial insights into your future professional field. An internship semester in another country also enables you to develop your intercultural skills and foreign language skills. A connection to other countries and other cultures expands your options when starting your career later on and can be the basis for a career in research.
Counseling and support
Mentoring, e-learning and career service
Fachhochschule Dortmund offers its students a unique advisory concept. In the first two semesters, personal mentors are on hand to guide and support you in order to facilitate a successful start and progression of your studies. In the second semester, you will have a progress meeting so that any problems can be identified as early as possible.
We want you to cope well with critical subjects such as math. An extensive advisory network, e-learning offers and the Maths HelpDesk will support you in this.
The Career Service at Fachhochschule Dortmund also offers you numerous opportunities to further develop your skills and sharpen your personal profile. For example, you can develop your key social or methodological skills and expand your foreign language and IT knowledge in interdisciplinary events.
Studying as a phase of life
Family, health and culture
Fachhochschule Dortmund supports students who have responsibility for children or care for relatives. We offer childcare and advise you on financial and organizational issues.
The health of our students is important to us, so they can take advantage of the university sports program, among other things. Our water dispensers are also available free of charge after sport.
We want students to look beyond the confines of the university. For example, you can attend performances at Theater Dortmund free of charge with your student ID.
