Specialist area offers for teachers and school classes

Are your students particularly interested in the study programs offered by one of Fachhochschule Dortmund's faculties(Opens in a new tab)  and would like information on all aspects of studying?

"Experience University" consists of three modules:

• Information from the General Student Advisory Service on all aspects of higher education, choosing a course, financing studies, application, enrolment and admission
• Presentation of study programs and course content "at first hand" by lecturers from the faculty, as well as experiencing the faculty on site
• Studying from a student perspective - students from the faculty report on their studies and guide your students through workshops, laboratories, workrooms, the campus and the canteen

You can either take advantage of the entire program or select one of the modules. The entire event lasts a total of four hours, including a break in the canteen.

The Faculty of Architecture will be happy to come to your school and present its range of courses.

In the exhibition, you and your pupils can get an idea of what first-semester students and graduates of the architecture course have created during their studies.
The constantly changing exhibitions by students take place in the entrance foyer and on the galleries of the Faculty of Architecture at Emil-Figge-Straße 40.

For around 25 years, the Faculty of Design has been exhibiting at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's most important trade fair for books and media. Around 50 books and magazines are exhibited each year, produced as one-offs or in very small editions, which have been designed by students within the last year.

As a visitor to the fair, you can browse through books and magazines from the fields of photography and communication design, as well as illustrations and texts - the best of what has been created in the faculty's seminars and workshops in these fascinating media. At their stand, students, lecturers and staff will answer your questions about the creation of the books, but also about studying design in the faculty.

The Faculty of Computer Science offers training courses for teachers at vocational colleges, grammar schools and comprehensive schools, which are advertised throughout NRW.

Currently, topics from the areas of networks, servers and applications are offered (e.g.):

• Mobile Device Management
• virtualization
• High availability
• clusters

Each training course is scheduled for 3 or 4 dates on different days of the week. The entire training course extends over 2 weeks. The event takes place all day from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers the following information for pupils on the study programs Automotive Development and Mechanical Engineering:

Visit to the school by a professor with a presentation of the study programs and the chosen laboratory (technical topics and demonstrations). Duration 1-2 hours as desired.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers the following information for pupils on the study programs Vehicle Development and Mechanical Engineering:

• Pupils visit the Fachhochschule Dortmund at the Sonnenstraße location.
• Presentation of the study programs and the chosen laboratory (technical topics and demonstrations).
• Visit to the adjacent laboratories and demonstrations of the areas of work there.
• Duration 2-4 hours as desired.

The journey of the students is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the
costs are covered.
