Teaching area Plastic Design / Applied Form Design
The aim of plastic design is to convey the basics for understanding three-dimensional form and thus to enable the meaningful and conscious handling and use of form in the context of design. A superordinate subject area leaves options open for the students' own viewpoint, so that the tasks contain scope for creative invention. The methodology used is process-oriented, to expand the students' own means of expression in the design of sculptural bodies. This leads to a conscious approach to forms and their creative use. The verbal ability to exchange ideas about form is part of the course content and is taught by means of constant discussions in the group and presentations of the students' own work.
Teaching Artistic Strategies
Our environment is characterized by the existing design. How can this be changed and rethought in a contemporary way? Based on an idea and concept, the focus is on the interplay of form, proportion and material with the surrounding space. Depending on the focus, this can take place in various subject areas, from private living space to the design of public space. Artistic methods are used to experiment, concepts are invented and designs are discussed. Scope for design must be conceived in new and innovative ways and, in the best case, realized.

Free space children's room. In cooperation with the Kindermuseum Dortmund. Published by Nora Fuchs.
The aim of the book is to look at the living environment of children in their own rooms from different perspectives. One focus is on recollections of their own children's rooms in the form of personal stories and the qualities or shortcomings they reveal. Supplemented by a historical summary, photographic finds, the museum perspective, interviews with children and a successful exhibition concept, the children's room is intended to attract more attention as a mental space. The book can provide inspiration for a free and sensitive approach to the subject of the children's room for this immensely important social space of action, retreat, shelter or ideally play space.
