Thanks to the commitment of companies, private individuals, foundations, clubs and associations, there will be 94 scholarships for particularly talented and committed students at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts in the 2024/25 funding year. They receive 300 euros per month. A total of 35 cooperation partners support the Deutschlandstipendium at Fachhochschule Dortmund.
At the scholarship ceremony at the Westfälischer Industrieklub on November 14, 2024, the sponsors took the opportunity to talk to the scholarship holders. Rector Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel thanked the sponsors in her welcoming speech. She emphasized that Fachhochschule Dortmund prepares its students for practical work in the best possible way in order to provide its partners from Business Studies with well-trained specialists. The support provided by a scholarship makes a valuable contribution to this. The Rector encouraged the sponsors to continue to build and maintain contacts with the scholarship holders, to involve them in joint activities or to offer them a company tour.
Student Tahira Sadaf Khan, who is studying Social Work in her second semester at the Faculty of Applied Social Studies, also contributed a short speech. She has been sponsored by the Eberhardt Baath Foundation since October 1, 2024. Tahira Sadaf Khan, who comes from Pakistan, praised the study conditions at Fachhochschule Dortmund and described how much the funding helped her during her studies.
In addition, a premiere awaited the participants: this year, sponsors and sponsored students no longer received orange FH cubes made of Plexiglas as usual, but for the first time variants made of sustainable beech wood - the ten-centimetre-high cubes, engraved with names and logos or lettering, were much appreciated.
All sponsors who participate in the Germany Scholarship Program are also honored on a plaque(Opens in a new tab) , which was recently installed in front of the foyer at the UAS location in Sonnenstraße. The "Elmos Foundation" and "Amana - Social Competence Center" are new to the program.
University funding
Germany Scholarship with public and private funds
Half of the financial support for the Deutschlandstipendium is donated by private sponsors and companies recruited by Fachhochschule Dortmund, while the other half comes from a federal government funding pot. Outstanding academic performance is one of the criteria used to select scholarship holders. However, a special educational background or social commitment can also qualify for funding. The funding period is one year.
