Furniture donation to Grenzenlose Wärme

Fachhochschule Dortmund has donated around 40 pieces of furniture to the non-profit organization Grenzenlose Wärme. The tables, cupboards, shelves and sideboards come from the FH offices at Hohe Straße 28.

After the rooms were vacated due to the consolidation of space, the furniture was no longer needed: around 350 pieces of furniture from three floors for which there was neither storage space nor any other use.

The donated furniture has now been handed over to the Grenzenlose Wärme association and will be transported to Ukraine this winter. In this way, a donation of furniture from Fachhochschule Dortmund reached the war-torn country as early as 2024.

Previously, departments and faculties as well as students and employees of Fachhochschule Dortmund were called upon to get in touch and collect suitable items. The offer met with great interest. Among others, this campaign also benefited students who had just started their studies and had recently moved to Dortmund.

"The campaign," says Melanie Akarsu-Middeldorf from Facility Management, "was very well received by employees and students alike. It enabled us to clear the building quickly and effectively. And good and, above all, durable furniture will now continue to be used in a sustainable, socially responsible and resource-saving way."
