This is the title of Professor Michael Boecker's four-year DAAD project. To kick off the project, colleagues from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) visited Fachhochschule Dortmund.

The aim of the four-year project is to set up a practical office in Durban in order to facilitate stronger networking between science and practice. In addition, events with the same content are being developed at both universities, which students can discuss in several international workshops.

The first 10-day workshop will take place in Dortmund in December 2019. Under the joint agenda "Consequences of Globalization and Implications for Social Work Practice in Germany and South Africa", students and lecturers from both universities will exchange ideas on various topics. The focus will be on the four thematic areas of the "Global Agenda of Social Work: Globalization and poverty, promoting human rights and social justice, working towards environmental sustainability and promoting human relationships and social cohesion."

Students of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies will be able to gain a special experience in July 2020 when the second 10-day workshop takes place in Durban (South Africa). A two-semester project will start in the winter semester 2019/20 in module K11 of the BA study program.

The project is not only intended to contribute to the internationalization of teaching, but also to enable further cooperation partnerships with the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In addition, a Collective Impact Forum is to be founded in Durban, in which, in addition to the participating universities, business enterprises and non-governmental organizations as well as local actors can shape social change on the ground.
