The Ruhr Master School (RMS)(Opens in a new tab) offers Master's students in the fields of engineering, computer science, economics and sustainability the opportunity to study in a networked, interdisciplinary and practice-oriented way. Prospective students can use the course finder(Opens in a new tab) to find out which Master's courses are open to them with their Bachelor's degree. Not only consecutive study programs are possible - the RMS explicitly promotes interdisciplinary thinking.
On the one hand, the alliance will open up and mutually recognize selected existing courses from the compulsory elective area. In addition, the three universities are jointly developing new teaching formats such as block weeks, intercultural training or an annual international summer school in order to offer components such as interdisciplinarity, internationality and digitalization in teaching in addition to subject-specific topicality.
The Ruhr Master School is funded by Stiftung Mercator.
The RMS for students
Master's students at one of the three universities can take advantage of the courses offered by the network partners by applying for a second degree (Bochum University of Applied Sciences) or applying for admission as an RMS student (Westfälische Hochschule). With the help of the RMS compulsory elective catalog(Opens in a new tab) , you can choose from the compulsory elective modules approved across all universities for the respective study program - interdisciplinarity is expressly desired. The Master's degree course is thus individualized according to personal interests, skills and career aspirations and enables a corresponding profile for the job market.
Advantages and possibilities:
The RMS for teachers
The RMS aims to develop the three partner universities into places of innovative university teaching and is explicitly aimed at the teaching staff of the network partners: We actively support lecturers in the development, organization and implementation of events and projects in cross-university teaching. Joint modules or block events such as the Ruhr Turtle Bot Competition are just as possible as cross-university study programs. The Ruhr Master School team is happy to help.
