Students must submit the internship semester agreement and the work attachments. From summer semester 2026, the state recognition of the supervisor must also be submitted.

The work attachments are part of the agreement (§ 2 of the practice agreement) and must be submitted together with the agreements by the deadline. The term work attachments refers to activity descriptions or training plans. If the work attachments are not submitted on time together with the agreement, students will not be able to complete the internship at their placement location.

"In-house" internship contracts must be checked by the UAS in advance. Students must therefore notify the Practice Department in good time of the need for a check. The use of the internship semester agreement is expressly recommended.

Yes, students will be informed of the deadlines in good time. These are cut-off deadlines. If these deadlines are not met, the student's studies may be extended.

The practice agreements are approved by the practice supervisor on behalf of the Examination Board. In disputed cases, the Examination Board is consulted. Approval can only be granted once all documents have been submitted in full and the student and practice placement have signed the agreement.

No. The practical report only needs to be submitted to the accompanying lecturers. A countersignature or confirmation is not required.

No, remuneration does not have to be paid. However, the Praxisreferat recommends remuneration. The minimum wage does not apply to the internship semester in accordance with §22 Para. 1 No. 1 MiLoG.

Even if no further modules are scheduled during the internship semester according to the study plan, students can still attend courses alongside the internship. Students should therefore be given time off for examinations and block courses. However, these absences must then be made up. Students must generally be given time off for the weekly study day without having to make up this time.

Students are allowed to work overtime within the framework of labor law regulations. This should then either be remunerated or students should be given the opportunity to take time off in lieu.

No, according to § 7 of the agreement. However, if the period of the internship is extended, it is possible to grant the student leave. This may only correspond to the extended period. A leave of absence of individual or a few days for personal reasons is possible.

Yes, all absences due to illness must be made up.

Students retain their student status during the internship and are therefore compulsorily insured under the student health insurance scheme. However, registration for accident insurance must be made via the internship location (more information on this can be obtained from your accident insurance provider and the internship department). If this is not possible, recognition as an internship cannot be granted. Separate regulations apply to internships abroad.

You can terminate a student's contract for good cause. However, before you decide to take this action, you should contact the Practice Office. Together we will then look for solutions to the existing conflicts. Students can also resign. Details are regulated in § 9 of the practical semester agreement.

There are no fixed study days. Students have a practical seminar once a week, but this does not have to take place on specific days.

Allocations are made via the HIS system in accordance with the FH's allocation regulations. Students with a chronic illness/disability, a child or children, care responsibilities or committee activities can be allocated in advance by the Practice Department.

Students can register for an accompanying seminar with seven priorities. Students and practical placements should discuss at an early stage which practical seminar would not be suitable. It is generally no longer possible to change the accompanying seminar once it has been assigned.

Applications must be submitted via the internship positions; pre-selection by the internship department is not possible. The internship department will also be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the course and the internship.

Recognition as a practical placement is granted on a case-by-case basis. Places that are active in a field of social work or are of professional interest to students are recognized. The practical placements must also provide an introduction to the field of work and an introduction to independent work. Absolutely! We recommend that you and the students have the opportunity to work shadow. This allows students to get to know the work, work processes and the team. You can get to know the students and, if necessary, "check" what qualifications and resources the person brings with them.
