Information
Climate protection is a stated goal of the European Union. The building sector plays a significant role in this effort: 40 percent of total energy consumption and about 36 percent of all CO2 emissions are attributable to the building sector. The potential for energy savings in building heating is particularly high.
By digitizing thermal energy flows, the efficiency of building heating can be significantly increased. Using smart IoT devices, individual rooms in a building can be heated separately and according to demand, and heat generation can be optimized.
In this workshop for beginners, technologies for digitizing the heating chain will be introduced, opportunities and potential will be discussed, and requirements and framework conditions will be developed collaboratively. The workshop will be led by Christof Röhrig, Professor of Computer Science at Fachhochschule Dortmund. His research areas include robotics, intelligent energy management, and smart buildings.
The event is a contribution by the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL) at Fachhochschule Dortmund to Dortmund Digital Week (DiWoDo).
