Design is never neutral, as demonstrated by the artist duo Poster Rex, who offer an alternative to populist propaganda with their “Rebel Prints” poster series.
Silence is not an option. Not now. In their exhibition “Rebel Prints,” Lars Harmsen and Markus Lange—the artist duo behind Poster Rex—take a clear stance: Design is never neutral—it always reflects values and ideologies. Since their founding over ten years ago, they have been critically engaging with the threatening developments of our time. Their posters refuse to leave the world to injustice and exemplify the use of design as a means of protest. Their powerful messages and visual interventions confront us with the urgent need to take action.
Against Populism
For Design Month Graz, a new series of posters was created as a counterpoint to populist propaganda. The works challenge narratives that foster fear and division, and instead emphasize solidarity and justice.
