At the end of February, the THEATER DER KLÄNGE in Düsseldorf offered a dance sprint workshop on the subject of "Folk dance as material for contemporary dance".

A small group of dancers spent a day learning traditional dances from the Rhineland and Westphalia regions from an experienced dance teacher.
The ensemble used the dances they learned as material for contemporary dance improvisations, from which choreographer Jacqueline Fischer developed three short choreographies on the last day and presented them in a "Meet the Artist" salon in the rehearsal room of THEATER DER KLÄNGE. A montage of interviews and rehearsal sequences in the rehearsal studio of THEATER DER KLÄNGE in Düsseldorf as well as footage of the final presentation of these three dances introduce the topic of "folk dance as cultural heritage".

(40min - German with English subtitles / Director: J.U. Lensing / Camera: Olivia Boz, Editing: Till Bellinghausen)
