Heino is and remains a phenomenon: Having been in show business for nearly 50 years, he has sold more than 50 million records to date. Ninety percent of all Germans know him—his black sunglasses and blond hair are his unmistakable trademarks. And Heino polarizes like no other German singer. Oliver Schwabe’s documentary “Heino – Made in Germany” takes a tongue-in-cheek, humorous, and inquisitive look at Heino’s success, while also showing the reactions his music elicits from colleagues, fans, and critics alike.
Featuring:
Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Otto, Guildo Horn, Rocko Schamoni, Marc Hickox (Heino impersonator), Norbert Hähnel (The Real Heino), and, of course, Heino.
A production by spoonfilm medienproduktion GmbH
commissioned by rbb and WDR in collaboration with ARTE
“…a strange piece of television in the best sense of the word!” (Die Zeit)
“...it’s to this Heino documentary’s credit that it doesn’t just let just any
fans and detractors get a chance to speak, but rather very select ones!” (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
“... what a freak show!” (Die Welt)
