About the project

The aim of the PO-MAA research project is to develop a special, particularly energy-efficient microchip, a so-called application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for artificial intelligence (AI). The chip is intended in particular to support processes based on deep neural networks/deep learning and be suitable for applications in the field of the Internet of Things and biomedical technology, which rely on energy-efficient operation of the hardware. The processes used to manufacture the ASICs are also innovative: The structure and properties such as voltages used, clock speed etc. are themselves optimized using AI methods, without which the high efficiency would be very difficult to achieve.
