Prof. Dr. Henning Kalis received his doctorate in experimental atomic, molecular and optical physics in the field of quantum simulation using surface ion traps at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau from 2012-2017. After working in industry in the fields of optical design (of micro-optics), optical simulation (wave and ray optics) and tolerancing of optical systems in Germany and the Netherlands, he worked as a development manager for inspection technology at a large mechanical engineering company in Dortmund before taking up his professorship.
