Dear Hummelfisch reader,
We have selected two topics for the October issue of our CSR Office newsletter. The pilot project "HRK Sustainability Audit", which started this month, and this year's energy-saving campaign "Together Less". We also have a few dates and tips for getting involved.
Piloting the "Sustainability at universities" audit
We were delighted to learn in August that we were one of four universities in Germany to pilot the newly developed audit by the German Rectors' Conference. We are the only university of applied sciences (HAW), the only university oriented towards the common good and the only university in NRW. In addition to us, the University of Hamburg, Chemnitz University of Technology and Philipps University Marburg are piloting the audit. (further information)[LINK to FH RADAR]
We see it as our responsibility to help develop the audit for the UAS in particular. UAS are practice-oriented, strongly regionally integrated and have smaller administrative structures. These and other differences to universities should be reflected in an audit procedure so that it can later be used effectively for sustainable development at UAS.
Our goal will be to be able to present Fachhochschule Dortmund's sustainability strategy after the one-year process. We cordially invite you to participate in the auditing process. Whether in a project group or just from time to time. Write to csr-officefh-dortmundde if you are interested and for more information.
If you are interested in taking part in the kick-off on October 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you are welcome to join us spontaneously. The event will take place at Sonnenstraße in room F212.
Energy saving campaign "Together less" 2024 (November - February)
It is certainly pointless to ask whether we would still be inviting people to save energy in the third year if it weren't for the war in Ukraine. Probably not. We reacted quickly in 2022, have dealt with the topic of energy a lot since then and have seen the crises as an opportunity. Since the end of September, we have had the first PV roof system on Emil-Figge-Str. 38. In a HEP project by Prof. Dr. Kai Luppa, software was developed that enables us to identify potential savings. You can also find out about our electricity consumption on the site and the heat energy data will also be visible in the future.

In the 2024 campaign, we are once again focusing on direct exchange with you and will be there with a service stand at the EFS and SON locations at lunchtime (11.30 am - 1.30 pm). We will have with us:
- Reminder stickers on the topics of electricity, ventilation and heating
- Energy-saving checklists for the office, seminar rooms, laboratories and kitchenettes
- Remaining stocks of adapter plugs and room thermometers
- Information on other ways to save energy
We will be setting up small stands with campaign material at the Max-Ophüls-Platz and Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Straße locations.
You will also have the opportunity to report defects directly to us, e.g. leaking windows, broken thermostats, etc.
Dates and commitment
We would like to draw your attention to the fundraising campaign "Wohnunglos im Winter", which was initiated by students of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies, the BVB Foundation and the Nordstadtliga. This winter, too, people in Dortmund are at risk of dying of cold. The students are therefore collecting donations. Donations can be handed in in the foyer of EFS 44 at certain times until November 26. Please send any questions about the campaign directly to dirk.boerstelfh-dortmundde
We would also like to draw your attention once again to our ongoing lecture series on sustainable development, more information at https://www.fh-dortmund.de/hochschule/profil/csr-office/ringvorlesung-nachhaltigkeit.php Everyone is invited to participate in presence or online.
On 28.11. there will be a workshop on plastic reuse. In the workshop we will make small gift ideas from old plastic and learn a lot about plastics and the possibilities of reuse. If you are interested, please contact us at csr-officefh-dortmundde The workshop will take place in the foyer of the Department of Architecture, further details will follow.
With sustainable greetings
Karen Müller, Dorothee Albrecht and Sebastian Kreimer
