Not just watching, but trying things out for yourself, experimenting and asking lots of questions. On Friday, June 13, 2025, visitors to Emil-Figge-Straße, Sonnenstraße or Max-Ophüls-Platz were able to experience the university up close.
Prospective students and anyone who wanted to take a look behind the scenes of university life came to the Fachhochschule Dortmund locations for the Open Day. The range of activities on offer from the eight faculties was greater than ever before: there were almost 240 program items to choose from. The numerous laboratory and workshop tours were very popular, as were experiments and short lectures such as "Chip Chip Hurray" or "Don't be afraid of lightning!"
With temperatures of over 30 degrees and a cloudless sky, the slush ice machine of the General Students' Committee (AStA) ran hot, and the student cocktail bar was also an inviting place to take a break and chat. "It's great that I can also talk directly to professors here," praised one prospective student at the information stand on the Emil-Figge-Straße campus. In addition to the practical relevance, the close contact between lecturers and students is one of the main reasons why pupils decide to study at Fachhochschule Dortmund.
Fachhochschule Dortmund's Student Advisory Service was also present at all three locations on the Open Day, providing support in choosing the right study program and guiding young students around the campus. The Family Service, Career Service, University Sports and Health Management presented their wide range of study-related services.
If you missed the open day at Fachhochschule Dortmund, you don't have to wait a whole year. The Student Advisory Service team is always available to answer any questions, the faculties offer taster days and Fachhochschule Dortmund lecturers visit schools.
