Indian Consul General revives cooperation

Published

Chancellor Svenja Stepper (4th from left) with Consul General Shuchita Kishore (5th from left) present one of the books they brought with them. Among others, Klaus Wegener from the Auslandsgesellschaft (l.), Library Director Mario Hütte (2nd from right) and Prof. Dr. Vinod Rajamani (r.).

Shuchita Kishore, Consul General of India in Frankfurt, visited Fachhochschule Dortmund for a multifaceted exchange. The focus was on deepening cooperation between Fachhochschule Dortmund and Indian partners in education, science and culture.

One topic of discussion was the desire for further cooperation and partnerships between Fachhochschule Dortmund and universities in India. Another was the establishment of a network between the UAS and Indian companies based in Germany. Chancellor Svenja Stepper, Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Studies and International Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Vinod Rajamani, Vice-Dean of Mechanical Engineering, discussed the corresponding opportunities and possibilities with the Consul General. Klaus Wegener, President of the Auslandsgesellschaft in Dortmund, accompanied the talks.

In this context, they also discussed the continuation of reciprocal visits by students and lecturers from universities in both countries and other types of cultural exchange.

These are some of the books handed over.

Guest gift: Literature

Shuchita Kishore presented the Fachhochschule Dortmund library with a number of books on Indian culture (see list below). Library director Mario Hütte received them in order to expand his collection of Indian literature.

The library also offers access to numerous high-quality feature films and documentaries from and about India - thanks to a license for the Kanopy streaming platform(Opens in a new tab) . These films may not only be used for teaching purposes, but also for closed courses at the UAS.

The Consul General met with Indian students from Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Exchange and deepening

One of the Consul General's concerns was the direct exchange with Indian students at Fachhochschule Dortmund. The aim was to strengthen contact with the Indian student network in Dortmund and to present the services offered by the consulate.

In future, the students are to be more closely involved in professional and cultural events, such as the India Business Forum or joint celebrations. Shuchita Kishore is also considering the consulate's participation in the International Summer Convention in Dortmund in September 2026.
