Hans Uhde Prize 2026 honors academic achievements

Four alumni of Fachhochschule Dortmund were honored with the Hans Uhde Prize for their outstanding academic achievements in engineering during a ceremony. On May 6, 2026, the Hans Uhde Foundation also honored four graduates of TU Dortmund University and an employee of thyssenkrupp Uhde.

In the year of the 40th award ceremony, Dr. Tim-Philip Eisenhardt, Head of Human Resources thyssenkrupp Uhde and site manager in Dortmund, looked back on the establishment of the Hans Uhde Foundation in 1986. The founder of the foundation, Dipl.-Ing. Hans Uhde, has always been passionate about supporting young people for their special achievements. Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel(Opens in a new tab) , Rector of Fachhochschule Dortmund, also referred to the special significance of this award for the Funding of science, education and training in her welcoming address.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Kempen(Opens in a new tab) , Professor of Electrical Energy Systems at Fachhochschule Dortmund, then gave a keynote speech on the current topic of "Kilovolt battery systems: A disruptive innovation enables low-loss electricity storage".

Among those congratulating this year's prizewinners was Guido Baranowski, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Hans Uhde Prize and Chairman of the University Council of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
