Meeting between faculty and welfare organizations

AGV meets FH - this was the motto of a meeting between the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verbände der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Dortmund (AGV) and teaching staff, the Dean's Office and employees of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies at Fachhochschule Dortmund on June 27, 2024.

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verbändeder Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Dortmund is the association of welfare organizations in Dortmund that work together for social issues and those in need of help in the city. The working group serves as a platform for exchange between the member associations, coordinates joint projects and campaigns and represents the interests of independent welfare organizations.

Focus on exchange

The AGV meets FH format also focused on exchange. The participants discussed current challenges, common topics and interfaces in an informal setting at the UAS.

"Open, flexible, systematic, curious, orderly" - these were some of the adjectives used by the participants to describe themselves in a round of introductions at the start of the meeting. The diverse areas of work of the associations as well as the teaching areas and research interests of the colleagues from the university of applied sciences were presented, thus drawing a comprehensive picture of the radii of action, attitudes and working methods of the people and associations involved.

The need for skilled workers as a common challenge

According to Katja Nowacki(Opens in a new tab) , Dean of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies, the pressure of the high demand for specialists in social work practice is certainly a major concern for everyone. This is where the University of Applied Sciences wants to provide support as a training institution and focus even more strongly on the important interlocking of theoretical and empirical findings with their application to practical examples in the studies of future specialists. To this end, cooperation with social work institutions is very important, both in the official and curriculum-based practical phase and in the application-oriented study programs.
