The "Other sources" tab gives you access to numerous subject databases and full texts licensed by Fachhochschule Dortmund, as well as electronic journals (access only possible from the university network or via VPN).
By selecting "Search -> Interlibrary loan" you can order books and journal articles that are not available in the FH library collection. Further information can be found further down on this page.

Interlibrary loan
Interlibrary loan is a library service that enables you to order printed books and journal articles that are not available at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts Library from other libraries in Germany. Orders can be placed online via the DigiBib internet portal (see above). External library users are excluded from this service.
Note: The video refers to the provision and collection of the essays as printed copies. This is no longer the case. Essays are now provided digitally as PDF files for download.
FAQ on interlibrary loan
What can be ordered?
You can use the interlibrary loan service to order documents (books for lending, articles as PDF documents without a loan period) that are not available in the Fachhochschule Dortmund's FH library. The legal basis for interlibrary loan is the Interlibrary Loan Regulations (LVO).
What cannot be ordered?
There are a number of document types that cannot be ordered or are not supplied, e.g:
Works that are available in bookshops at a low price. At present the price limit is 15 €
Works of particular value, especially from the 16th and 17th centuries. Many libraries have also excluded works published before 1800 from interlibrary loan. In these cases, however, copies can usually be made for a fee.
Loose-leaf editions, reference works and unbound periodicals
e-books
Works in poor condition
Diploma, master's and state theses
Media from foreign libraries
What does an interlibrary loan order cost?
In accordance with § 5 Fee Regulations of the FH library of Fachhochschule Dortmund(Opens in a new tab) dated February 3, 2010 in conjunction with § 19 Interlibrary Loan Regulations (LVO) and Annex 5 thereto, a flat fee of EUR 1.50 is charged per interlibrary loan request (i.e. per article of up to 20 pages or per book). For members of Fachhochschule Dortmund the flat rate is currently 1.00 Euro.
More extensive items are usually charged separately.
The interlibrary loan fee is a processing fee that is due when the order is placed. It is also charged if the title is no longer required.
Your user account will be automatically debited with the corresponding amount after the order has been sent.
For interlibrary loan orders placed by employees of Fachhochschule Dortmund, an internal university charge of € 1.50 will be waived until further notice in accordance with the "Application of the Interlibrary Loan Regulations of 19.02.2003 (LVO) and regulation of the reimbursement of expenses" (Decree 214 - 5.02.10.12 of the Ministry of Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia of 08.06.2005).
How do you order?
Media can be ordered via the DigiBib portal (see above). Once the item has been delivered, you will usually be informed by e-mail.
Media are available for collection for 10 opening days after delivery.
How long is the loan period?
The loan period is set differently by the individual lending libraries. As a rule, it is 20 opening days. Renewals are usually not possible. The Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts Library will pass on to the user the conditions regarding loan periods, usage restrictions or copying bans of the supplying library. The loan period can be found on the lending receipt that you receive when you borrow the book. The order slip in the book is needed to process your interlibrary loan, so please keep it and return it with the book.
If the loan period is exceeded, the following overdue fees will be charged per item, which apply uniformly in the FH libraries:
up to 10 days
2 Euro
up to 20 days
5 Euro
up to 30 days
10 Euro
