Lending and returning items at the self-checkout machines
- The lending and return of media can be carried out automatically at the self-checkout devices.
- A login is required before use.
Information on the login details can be found on our library account website. - The devices work with RFID technology. The media only need to be placed on the Plexiglas plate. Several items can be placed on the device at the same time.
- Please leave the media on the plate until a green tick appears behind all titles on the display.
- If you have any problems or questions regarding operation, please contact our staff.
Return at the return machine (only at the location Emil-Figge-Str. 44)
- The return machine can also be used outside the library's opening hours (within the building's opening hours, usually 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
- To return items, please insert each item individually.
- Place a medium on the shelf and wait until the flap opens. Push the medium through the opening.
- As soon as the traffic light on the display is green, you can insert the next medium.
- Once you have returned all the media, click on "Done". The return receipt will be sent to you automatically by e-mail (see below for more information).
- If the "Done" button is not pressed, the flap closes automatically after a few seconds and the process is completed. In this case, you will not receive a receipt, but the media will still be returned.
- Interlibrary loans, AV media, large formats and media borrowed from the Sonnenstraße and Max-Ophüls-Platz locations cannot be returned via the machine!
- Lending media again directly after returning them is only possible at the self-checkout machines!
Return via the return box (locations Sonnenstraße and Max-Ophüls-Platz)
- At the Sonnenstraße location, the return box is located in the corridor in front of the library between the entrance to the PC pool and the short-term lockers. At the Max-Ophüls-Platz location, it can be found in room E38.
- Returning items via the box is only possible outside the opening hours of the library and within the opening hours of the FH buildings.
- Borrowers are responsible for using the return box.
- Interlibrary loans and oversized items cannot be returned via the box.
- Please make sure that inserts cannot fall out of the books.
- No return receipt will be issued via the return box.
- The media will be removed from your account on the date of deposit.
- Any fees incurred will be canceled when the item is returned.
Return by post
It is also possible to return media by post to the respective library location. The date of the postmark is decisive. The risk of loss of the item lies with you as the borrower. If you are interested, please contact the library staff.
Information on loan and return receipts
When you borrow an item from one of the self-checkout machines, you will receive a lending receipt by email stating the loan period. A return receipt is also generated when you return a medium: you will receive this by email if you return media at the self-checkout machines or via the automatic return machine. You can find an overview of the media you have borrowed and their loan periods online in your library account(Opens in a new tab) at any time.
All receipts generated as part of your activities in the library are sent to you by email and are therefore paperless.
