Profile

The objective of the R&D activities in the Laboratory for Electrical Power Supply and Systems is to integrate and apply modern information technologies for a smart energy supply in the form of system solutions for electrical grids. In addition to traditional grid analyses, the laboratory focuses primarily on secondary equipment. Particular emphasis is placed on standardized protocol interfaces for control and protection technology (IEC 60870, IEC 61850).

The laboratory therefore concentrates primarily on the parameterization and configuration of protection, control, and monitoring systems for power supply facilities. To this end, modern protection and control systems from leading manufacturers are available, along with corresponding engineering tools and testing techniques.


A second area of focus in the laboratory is network calculations and simulations, which are performed using computer-aided tools (Neplan, Netomac, CAPE).
