Our bodies can do more than meets the eye.
When we stand, walk or jump, forces are at work that cannot be seen but can be measured using technology.

In this workshop, we use modern technology to make these invisible forces visible - for example, the pressure under the feet or changes in movement. What the body is actually doing all the time suddenly becomes visible on the screen.

We will experience how research is carried out at a university and how technology helps us to better understand the human body.

Target group? Children aged 8 to 12 years

Together, we’ll build your very own little toothbrush robots, and afterward, in a kid-friendly mini-lecture, we’ll talk about what robots are and where we encounter them in our everyday lives. The focus is on fun, creativity, and gaining a basic understanding of technology.

PLEASE NOTE: The session on August 7, 2026, is specifically for girls. On August 8, 2026, both girls and boys are welcome to participate.

When? Friday, August 7, 2026, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (for girls only) and Saturday, August 8, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (for girls and boys)

Where? Fachhochschule Dortmund (the exact location will be announced in the registration confirmation)

Target audience? Children ages 6 to 8

Number of participants? A maximum of 10 children accompanied by their parents

How does a 3D printer actually work? Together, we’ll explore the exciting world of 3D printing. You’ll design your own personalized keychain and watch as it’s printed layer by layer right here on the spot. You’ll also get to get creative with 3D pens and make your own little works of art or figures. Plus, we’ll give you a short, kid-friendly introduction to how 3D printing works and where this technology is used in everyday life.

PLEASE NOTE: The event on August 29, 2026, is specifically for girls. On August 28, 2026, both girls and boys are welcome to participate.
