Program International Day 2023
On 30.11.2023, the International Day took place at both Emil-Figge-Str. and Sonnenstr. locations, where central contact points such as the International Office and the individual faculties presented their offers for the internationalization of studies.
At numerous information spots, students had the opportunity to obtain information about studying abroad, test their knowledge of the topic "Campus International" in an entertaining way (and win one or two useful prizes in the process) or talk to international students.
The information on offer was flanked by other stands from external partners such as the Auslandsgesellschaft, Asia Exchange or IEC online, which expanded the range of opportunities even further - from language courses for students to exchange years on the other side of the globe.
The program at both locations was rounded off with short talks and discussions by lecturers and students who reported on their experiences abroad - providing first-hand insights into intercultural life and tangible tips for implementation!
Thanks to the central location in the respective canteens, the events were very popular. See for yourself with the help of our video!

Review of the anniversary event "10 years of internationalization funding" 2023
Anniversary: 10 years of internationalization funding | 03.11.2023
On 03.11.2023, the anniversary event for the 10th anniversary of the university's internal internationalization funding took place at the DASA in Dortmund. With this funding programme, the university has been supporting the internationalization efforts of all faculties and institutions since 2013 - often with the (desired) effect that the contacts established with the help of start-up funding grow into longer-term collaborations and projects.
The International Office and the Vice-Rectorate for Communication and Internationalization took this anniversary as an opportunity to spend an afternoon looking back on successful project developments. The main aim was to highlight selected projects in short presentations and posters, exchange practical tips and lessons learned and provide an opportunity for networking in a relaxed atmosphere - especially for new university members.
After welcoming the approximately 45 visitors by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers and the Head of the International Office, Dagmar Hösch, André Menke presented the funding line as well as some statistical key points from ten years of internal internationalization funding.
The speakers then included Prof. Dr. Michael Boecker from the Faculty of Applied Social Studies (with guests from South Africa), Prof. Dr. Carsten Wolff from the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL), Prof. Sabine an Huef from the Faculty of Design and Prof. Dr. Reinhild Schultz-Fölsing from the Faculty of Architecture. Their contributions presented in a concise and entertaining manner the most important activities of the projects for which the speakers had received internal FH funding and which in many cases also led to larger third-party funded projects. The subsequent panel discussion with the four contributors was moderated by Anja Dilger.
The program was complemented by a poster exhibition with six other projects presented as well as information stands from the International Office and the Perspectives Management. This represented a wide range of different activities across the participating faculties and geographical regions. Drinks, snacks and a musical performance by singer and pianist Lea Bergen rounded off the event.
Earlier that day - also at DASA - the "4th Day of Teaching" took place, which was organized by colleagues from the Institute for Higher Education Didactics.
Some impressions of the anniversary event can be seen in the following video and in the picture gallery linked above.
