Media belonging to a reserve collection cannot be borrowed until it is closed and are therefore available for use in the library at any time by students attending the respective course.
Establishment of a reserve collection
Lecturers can submit a list of titles (max. 20 media) for the reserve collection to the library before the start of the lecture period, stating the following information:
- Name of the lecturer
- Title of the course
- E-mail address for queries
At the end of the lecture-free period, the media are no longer part of the reserve collection. The reserve collections are therefore generally closed at the end of the semester (February 28 or August 31), unless an extension request has been submitted.
Additional materials maintained by lecturers (in folders, please) can be placed in reserve collections. These must be handed in at the circulation desk. We require the same information as for media from the library collection (see above).
To request the creation of a reserve collection, please use our contact form(Opens in a new tab) and let us know the media to be placed on hold, including shelf marks(Opens in a new tab) if possible.
Reserve collections should not contain more than 20 media. If, in individual cases, there is a need to provide significantly more than 20 items, an increase in the upper limit can be requested in writing from the library management.
Reserve collections are separate from the lending collection. They are excluded from lending and are for reference use within the library.
Digital reserve collections
Digital reserve collections contain digital documents, digitized materials or links to electronic resources such as e-books or articles from e-journals.
Digital reserve collections are set up via the university-wide e-learning platform ILIAS. You can find more information on the blog of the ILIAS Competence Center(Opens in a new tab) .
