Our philosophy

The UIC is an innovation center that acts as a "bridge builder" between university, research, Business Studies and society. At the UIC, knowledge for the digitalization of our working and living environments is imparted and exchanged, but also tested and applied in practice.

Thanks to its location in the Dortmund Technology Park and the simultaneous integration of the UIC into teaching and research activities at Fachhochschule Dortmund, the conditions are ideal for overcoming the challenges of digitalization through cooperation between academia and industry.

Atthe heart of digitalization are people, who are empowered by technologies and new processes to carry out their work, research and education in a more efficient, digital and networked way. Concepts such as user experience and gamification can be used to involve users in the digitalization process right from the start.

INNOVATION

The interplay between innovation and digitalization is an important success factor for the sustainable transformation of organizations and companies. The correct use of methods such as design thinking and close support in the innovation process are crucial here and are the focus of the UIC.

CENTER

In our digital world, it is all the more important to establish and maintain personal contacts. For this reason, we have created an analogue contact point to exhibit results in the field of user innovation and digitalization as showcases and to explore new methods of learning, teaching, researching and working together with pupils, students, researchers and companies on the UIC's premises.
